India's PSLV-C62 Rocket Mission Faces Setback

(MENAFN) An Indian satellite launch encountered a critical failure Monday, authorities at the nation's space program confirmed.

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C62 mission experienced an "anomaly" during the third stage of flight after liftoff at 10:17 a.m. local time (0447 GMT) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in Southern India, the Indian Space Research Organization announced.

"The PSLV-C62 mission encountered an anomaly during the end of the PS3 stage. A detailed analysis has been initiated," the agency said on US social media company X.

Prior to launch, ISRO stated PSLV-C62 would transport EOS-N1 alongside 15 co-passenger satellites.

EOS-N1, also known as the Anvesha satellite, was built by India's Defense Research and Development Organization and "designed to provide cutting-edge imaging capabilities, enabling India to map enemy positions with pinpoint accuracy," a public broadcaster said.

In May 2025, India's effort to deploy PSLV-C61, a new earth observation satellite into orbit, collapsed due to a technical malfunction during the third stage of flight.
