Eurozone Inflation Eases to 2 Percent in December
Among categories, services recorded the highest yearly rate at 3.4% (down from 3.5% in November). This was followed by food, alcohol & tobacco at 2.6% (up from 2.4%), non-energy industrial goods at 0.4% (down from 0.5%), and energy, which fell sharply to minus 1.9% compared with minus 0.5% previously.
The steepest price increases were registered in Estonia and Slovakia, both at 4.1%, while Austria posted 3.9% and Croatia 3.8%. Conversely, the lowest inflation rates were seen in Greek Cypriot at 0.1%, France at 0.8%, and Italy at 1.2%.
On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices edged up by 0.2% in December.
