Erdogan, Macron Discuss Russia-Ukraine Conflict

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and French President Emmanuel Macron held a conversation on Wednesday regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and various international matters.

The phone call, initiated at the request of the French leader, also covered bilateral relations and regional concerns, as reported by the Presidency on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.

President Erdogan highlighted that enhancing collaboration between Türkiye and France is crucial, affirming that both sides will continue taking measures to advance this objective.

Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, Erdogan remarked that Türkiye is exerting maximum efforts to help resolve the conflict through "a just and lasting peace."

He noted that communications with both parties to revive the Istanbul process are ongoing, emphasizing that Türkiye is prepared to make every possible effort to facilitate peace as soon as possible.

Erdogan stressed the importance of using diplomatic channels effectively to secure enduring peace, noting that Türkiye will continue supporting initiatives for a ceasefire and the subsequent process.

He further highlighted that refraining from actions that could jeopardize global stability would positively contribute to peace efforts.

The two leaders additionally discussed recent developments in the Caucasus, Gaza, and Syria.
