Drone sighting stops air traffic at Brussels Airport

(MENAFN) Air traffic at Brussels Airport was briefly suspended Tuesday evening as a precaution after a drone was reported near the airport, according to Belgian media outlets.

“Just before eight o’clock (1900GMT), there was a report of a drone over the airport grounds," said Kurt Verwilligen, spokesperson for Belgian air navigation and traffic service provider Skeyes, as reported by local broadcasters.

After roughly 30 minutes, Skeyes confirmed that flights had begun resuming.

Liege Airport also temporarily closed and redirected flights to Maastricht in response to drone activity.

Additionally, residents reported seeing six drones near Kleine-Brogel Air Base, with police visually confirming two of the drones, according to local reports.

Belgium has faced multiple similar drone sightings over the past weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
