Trump Issues Threat to Afghanistan Over Bagram Airbase

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a forceful ultimatum Saturday, warning Afghanistan of severe consequences if it fails to return control of the strategic Bagram Airbase.

"If Afghanistan doesn't give Bagram Airbase back to those that built it, the United States of America, BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!" Trump declared in a post on his Truth Social platform.

The Bagram Airbase, situated roughly 50 kilometers north of Kabul, served as the central hub for U.S. and NATO military operations throughout the nearly two-decade-long Afghanistan conflict. Following the U.S. troop withdrawal in 2021, the Taliban seized control of the facility.

During a recent trip to Britain, Trump revealed that the U.S. is "trying to take back" the airbase, stirring intense speculation about a potential American military return to Afghanistan.

At a White House briefing on Saturday, Trump informed reporters that negotiations are underway with Afghanistan concerning the airbase, emphasizing, "We want it back, and we want it back soon, right away."

He added with a warning tone, "If they don't do it, you're going to find out what I'm gonna do," underscoring the gravity of the situation.
