Netanyahu Confirms “Intensive Operation” in Gaza

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed a Tel Aviv court Tuesday that the Israeli military had initiated an “intensive operation in Gaza City,” according to a public broadcaster.

“We have begun an intensive operation in Gaza City,” Netanyahu declared during the court session.

The statement coincided with a forceful Israeli offensive on Gaza, where Palestinians suffered a night of severe air and artillery bombardments.

Local reports indicated that 35 people were killed, with additional individuals injured or missing, as explosions from armed drones struck homes and residential structures northwest of the city.

Netanyahu appeared once more at the Tel Aviv District Court Tuesday morning to address corruption allegations leveled against him.

He faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three separate corruption cases.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has claimed the lives of nearly 65,000 Palestinians since October 2023 and left the enclave in ruin, with residents confronting famine conditions.

Israel is also contending with a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its military actions in the territory.
